Roof Repairs
in South Wales
Before, during and after: explore pitched and flat roof renewal projects, from worn coverings to the finished roof.
From Roofing Problems to Roof Renewal
Missing tiles, deteriorating felt and exposed roof edges are all reasons to arrange an inspection. Understanding the condition of the covering and the materials beneath it helps establish whether a repair or more extensive renewal is appropriate.
These photographs show two Glamorgan Roofing projects: a pitched tiled roof and a flat roof. Each sequence follows the original condition, the preparation stage and the finished covering.

A Tiled Roof, Renewed in Stages
The original covering shows gaps with timber visible beneath. The following images show the roof before the work, with underlay and battens exposed during renewal, and with the completed tiled covering.

The Original Covering
Gaps in the tiled surface expose the battens below. An inspection is needed to assess the affected areas and the wider condition of the roof.
Preparing the Roof
Roofing underlay and timber battens are visible across the slope. This preparation forms part of the roof system that will sit beneath the tiles.
The Finished Tiled Roof
The finished covering has continuous courses of tiles. This final view shows the roof after the preparation and covering stages.
More Than the Visible Tiles
A roof assessment should consider the covering, supporting materials and junctions around features such as chimneys. For larger projects, visit our new roofs and roof replacement page.
From Worn Felt to a New Roof Covering
This flat roof sequence shows standing water and a deteriorating covering, followed by new decking and the completed membrane with perimeter trims.
Wear and Exposed Edges
Water is collecting on the original covering. Along the near edge, deterioration has left timber exposed. Both the surface and edge details need assessment.
New Roof Decking
New OSB decking is in place before the covering is installed. A suitable supporting deck is an important part of the flat roof system.
The Completed Flat Roof
The final photograph shows the new membrane covering and finished perimeter trims, following the decking stage shown alongside it.
Check the Covering and What Supports It
Flat roof problems can involve the membrane, deck, drainage or perimeter details. The appropriate work depends on what an inspection finds. Learn more about our flat roofing services.
Does Your Roof Need Repair or Replacement?
These photographs show substantial renewal work, but an isolated roofing defect does not automatically mean the whole roof needs replacing. The decision depends on the extent of deterioration and the condition of the remaining materials.
When to Arrange a Roof Inspection
Changes to a roof covering or signs of water inside the building deserve attention. Common reasons to contact a roofer include:
- Missing, slipped or cracked tiles
- New damp patches on ceilings or upstairs walls
- Split, lifting or deteriorating flat roof coverings
- Exposed timber or damaged roof edges
- Water repeatedly collecting in the same roof areas
- Leaks returning after previous repairs

Roof Repair and Renewal Questions
Do missing tiles mean I need a new roof?
Not necessarily. An isolated defect may be repairable when the surrounding materials are sound. An inspection helps establish whether the problem is localised or part of wider deterioration.
Can a worn flat roof be repaired?
Some localised defects can be repaired. Where the covering or supporting deck has deteriorated extensively, more substantial renewal may be appropriate.
Does standing water mean a flat roof is leaking?
Standing water alone does not prove a leak. Repeated ponding is a reason to assess the drainage, roof falls and covering alongside any signs of water entering the building.
Why are the preparation photographs important?
They show parts of the work that are concealed by the finished covering. In these projects, that includes the pitched roof underlay and battens, and the flat roof decking.
How do I enquire about my roof?
